Wikipedia
Daria (also written as Darya) is the female variant of the ancient name of Persian origin Darius (via Latin Darius and Dareĩos from Old Persian داریوش Dārayavauš, literally "he who holds firm the good"). Daria is a saint of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. In Modern Persian, daryā (Old Persian drayah-) coincidentally means "sea".
The name has been used extensively in Russia and other Slavic countries. The common Russian nickname is Dasha. It has sometimes also been seen as a Russian form of the name Dorothy. Dolly, a diminutive of Dorothy, was also once a common nickname for Daria. The name is also used among Iranians, especially those who live near the Caspian sea.
Daria is a US teen cartoon series by MTV concerning the character Daria Morgendorffer.
